Each carved burl is a unique piece. When carving, Stinson Studio strive to follow the naturally grown exterior form to achieve a balance between the natural exterior and the smooth carved interior. The burl is buried in the ground under wood shavings to age and darken. Once aged to satisfaction, it is carved, dried, sanded and finished over the course of a month.
