Cloth Tone
Cloth Tone is a textile studio based in British Columbia, Canada that centers craft and ecological responsibility within contemporary cloth culture to create unique, timeless and embodied textiles. These unique textiles promote a deep connection to one’s senses through the use of natural materials, cumulative textures, subtle variations and nuanced colour. Cloth Tone recognizes the positive environmental and cultural impact of using locally grown and processed materials to create sustainable, luxury, textiles for living. The studio embraces a philosophy of ‘textiles for life’, with primary materials that include 100% Canadian grown and milled wool and alpaca (primarily sourced from British Columbia), and GOTS certified organic linen from the Netherlands.
Larissa Beringer is a textile artist weaving poetry into raw materials. Based in the Central
Okanagan, she holds a BFA in Textiles from NSCAD University and an MLIS from McGill
University. Drawing on her career as an Art, Design, and Architecture Librarian at Emily Carr University and the Pratt Institute, Larissa approaches weaving as a language. Her process is deeply rooted in art and design histories, exploring how material objects communicate lived experiences. Throughout her practice as a textile artist, she creates with materials that cross generations, oceans, countries and ecologies.
