Artists Statement
Grounded in painting, my practice exists within a larger framework of queer theory and feminist thought which pursues the boundary of perception and interpretation. I am drawn to imagery and language where we lose our linguistic mooring; where symbols refuse to consistently index meaning. My visual vocabulary embraces both abstraction and figuration, using ordinary images and objects as references to construct imagined liminal spaces. Spectral blurring through the material of paint is my effort to destabilize or unfurl traditional structures of representation.
