Andrea Copp - Marie-Pierre
Andrea Copp is a ceramicist and artist based in Vancouver, Canada.
Artist's Statement
This piece draws quiet inspiration from a gesture of profound resilience: in certain regions where Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) operates, women arrive at remote health centres carrying a small stone in their hand—a private signal, offered in silence.
The program is named Marie-Pierre—a French name, where pierre means stone. The stone becomes a vessel, carrying what cannot always be spoken aloud.
Marie-Pierre speaks to what we carry, what we protect, and what endures. A meditation on the strength of women, on healing, and the quiet power of objects to hold meaning.
